.....burnout should equal 'promotion'? I would ask you to figure out -why- you are angry when the day crew departs. Wish you were on day shift? Think you are working harder than they are? What are you -really- hungering for? If you think EPs are just burned-out show producers who found a way to move up, I am sorry to hear you are working with managers who don't deserve those jobs. If you are burned out doing a tough but ultimately cool job now- you will flame out fast under the pressure that mgmt faces, pressure the people out in the nzrm cannot even imagine, pressure that makes putting on a show feel like sitting on a beach with a pina colada. |

I was a show producer for about 12 or 13 years, and I feel for you guys. I wanted to be a producer so bad! But, I too, got burned-out.
Just know, it's perfectly normal to want to do something else, even to feel angry and resentful. It's a very hard job, and not all that rewarding. Most people can't do it forever! And you shouldn't do it forever.
Start thinking about other jobs in the business you might like better, and come up with a plan to get there!
I just decided I wasn't go to line produce anymore. Period. It made it much tougher to get a new job, but it was worth it. I am much happier.
