We send reporters out to do meaningless live performances in public places that dare idiots like these to disrupt. We announce in advance where our people are going to be. They get jeered, interrupted, cursed at, doused with water, and treated like crap.
We then FIRE a guy who reacted like any normal human being would? Sad, very sad. |

I've got a blooper reel of a reporter in a top 20 market who dropped the F bomb at the end of his live shot when he thought he was clear (something had gone wrong with the feed). Management didn't fire him (but probably talked to him). They knew it was just an unfortunate slip. He later went on to a top 5 market --no problem.
WCBS management didn't have to fire Arthur. People make mistakes and as journalism goes, this isn't as bad as fake sources or faulty fact checking.
