Message: Miranda raises a very good issue: With Walker leaving, is there any female anchor out there who comes close to having his viewer appeal? In other words...does Debbie Faubion have enough anchor "weight" that it won't really matter that much who they get to replace Walker? Can she carry that newscast? Who are the heavy hitting female anchors in this market? How would you rank them...and in what terms? Which female anchors draw the most viewers? Which female anchor is the best journalist? And how about a little musical chairs here? Take any female anchor from any station, and put her with any male anchor from any station. Which anchor combination would make the best team? Who do you think would have the best "chemistry"? Personally, I think nine's evening females, Faubian and Brattian are pretty much lightweights from a journalistic standpoint. Not much depth to either one of them. But they're both watchable, so it doesn't matter if they're merely there because they can read their copy well. Sonja Gantt on the other hand, comes across as very knowledgable and has a certain "weight" about her. I think she's hampered though, by a school 'marm type of personality and a less than fashionable hairstyle. Tonya Bendickson comes across as pretty sharp and knowledgable, but is a little too "perky" at times. Maureen O'Boyle does a decent job anchoring, but she hasn't been here long enough for me to get a good handle on her journalistic ability. All in all, I think most of the female evening anchors do a credible job, but is there a superstar amongst them?
