In Reply To: I disagree that if you are not where you want to be or in big market by 30 or 31 you should get out. I started late in TV ... was in print first ... was 27 when I got first FT TV job ... and am going to be 39 shortly ... heading to top 10 market. How? I paid my dues, worked the small stations, moved up, then hired an agent. I know, I know - everyone has a different view on an agent but he is getting my tape seen at places I had already sent tapes and heard nothing. I will work in a top 10 - it may only be for the duration of my first contract but what it boils down to for me is ... I DID NOT WANT TO WAKE UP WHEN I WAS 80 AND WONDER ... "COULD I HAVE DONE IT? COULD I HAVE GOTTEN A JOB IN A TOP 10?" If you want it bad enough, you keep plugging away. It's not an easy business - we all know that - but if you want anything bad enough - you bust your butt to get it!
Message: When you're co-workers come in all fresh faced and naive with two years in market 99 under their belt, with their sing-songey delivery, and hoochie mama earrings on the anchor desk, 30 starts to feel like 60. I don't know of any other job besides modeling where you feel old at freakin 30!
