In less than 9 months Rather loses the anchor job, "60 Min Wed." is cancelled, and his former colleagues at "60 Sunday" rip him a new one as he departs the anchor chair.
Unless CBS chooses to make him the cornerstone of the Sunday show, he is gone from CBS after his contract is up next year. I guarantee it!
There is no way in hell that man is staying put.
So why CNN? Simple, a distant #2 to FNC lacking any kind of household name news talent. CNN does not have a real network star on their roster. Zahn, Brown, and Greenfield are flops.
A disgruntled kicked in the pants Rather is perfect. Why? B/c CNN would give him an hourlong newscast 5 nights a week. Plus, they'll let him report anywhere in the world he wants. He'd also be the face of CNN.
Some of you may disagree or may think it's stupid. But I think Rather going to CNN is almost a done deal.
Your memories may be short, but about 9 years ago he almost went there, and that was when he wasn't getting dumped on at CBS.
I'll hear what you all have to say, but I'm going with Rather on CNN in '07. |

I'm not that sure that Dan would wind up going to CNN. There's at least as good a chance (if not better) that Uma Pemmaraju, Donna Fiducia, or Mike Jarrick would take over the "CBS Evening News" vis-a-viv Dan jumping over to CNN.
