WEWS is juicing their five and six with a watch-and-win contest. What better way to hold Oprah viewers than to give them a free trip to watch Oprah live? It's working.
The strategy also seems to be hurting Dr. Phil on WKYC at 5:00 (which hurts the WKYC 6:00).
WKYC is still number one at 11:00, but they're getting beat overall late night by WJW's hour long 10 PM. That's pretty amazing because WJW has got to keep that number up for an hour and compete against network dramas. WEWS is abysmal at 11. Action News seems to have lost it's mojo. (Once you've stripped to your bare behind there's nowhere left to go but cable!) They're third late night and dead last everywhere else. Hey, maybe they should change that tag line... "Dead last...everywhere!" At least it's an achievable goal.
WOIO is third late night and dead last everywhere else.
