Given the controversy with taxpayer-funded VNR's, some stations seem to be throwing the baby out with the bathwater and putting on a total ban of ALL VNR's, no matter where they come from or who paid for them. Even if the script and source can be quickly vetted.
Is your newsroom doing this?
What is your newsroom's position on b-roll pkg's and SMT's?

Why do you think VNR's are produced in the first place? Someone is selling something....a product or an idea. If you use a VNR, you've allowed someone to buy time on your newscast. It doesn't matter what the story is...you've been used.
Our station....absolutely no VNR's...ever!
