One n.d. told me that he views a VNR as no different from a paper press release and no different than sending a reporter and camerman to a press conference called by the same company. "Whether it's a VNR or a press conference or a press release, there's no difference. All have an agenda because a company puts them out. So where's the harm? That is the nature of news." Interesting thoughts. Everyone has their nuts in a knot over VNRs and yet they'll go running to a press conference and get agenda messages shoved down their throat too. |
