Given the controversy with taxpayer-funded VNR's, some stations seem to be throwing the baby out with the bathwater and putting on a total ban of ALL VNR's, no matter where they come from or who paid for them. Even if the script and source can be quickly vetted.
Is your newsroom doing this?
What is your newsroom's position on b-roll pkg's and SMT's?
I'm doing an informal survey and any responses would be very helpful! Thank you. |

I've produced and distributed several VNRs since this "controversy" began...and Nielsen tracking data doesn't suggest at all that stations are shying away from them.
As before, b-roll is much more likely to be used than a tracked package...but that's always been the case.
SMT's, which I also produce, still get good reception--especially when you can establish a local connection to the story.
Bottom line--no real fallout that I can detect.
