In the NFL...at the end of the game...is their name hasn't been called by either the referees or the TV announcers, then it means you've done a good job that day.
But if your number gets whistled by the "zebras"...or if the announcers call your name and/or show repeated replays of you in action, it means you've screwed up.
So...
If at the end of the day neither the ND, EP, ME, (or reporters,if you're a shooter or editor) has paged you or called you on the cellphone, then it means you've done a good job.
Everyone's either too busy or too concerned about themselves to give "attaboys" (or "attagirls") anymore.
