Under Burt Reinhart, CNN enjoyed an unparalleled time of growth and prosperity. He was like the Wizard of Oz, very quiet, unassuming, and workmanlike, but very effective in his delegative leadership style. Kavanuagh was nuts, but so was Amos. And let us not forget Ed Turner, whose personal vision guided CNN newsgathering over the course its meteoric rise to organizational journalistic stardom. Sad and ironic that at the very moment CNN reached critical mass with the first Gulf War, it began to lose its way.
