In Reply To: Is it possible Newsweek was set up after the fact? Something is a little hinky here. Could it be that their source in the government was squeezed after the fact, that he was gotten to, after the story began to ripple around the planet, and the demonstrations became ugly? If Isikoff truly screwed up, I still think he should resign. But he has been pretty good in the past, all the way back to the Paula Jones and Monica Lewinsky stories. Consider too that the General in the Pentagon changed his story from last Thursday, saying initially he didn't think the Newsweek story had caused the violence. I don't think Newsweek has totally given up on this story. I hope they don't, especially if they've been "had". There's an old I-Team phrase many had hanging over their door. "If you're lying, we'll be back."
Message: maybe the source was a member of congress.
