In Reply To: AtKidPro, Once again, you haven't done your homework on this story. You haven't looked at THE FACTS. No one, I repeat, NO ONE ever testified to seeing Wayne Williams stop on the bridge. NO ONE ever testified to seeing Wayne Williams throw anything into the Chattahoochie River. NO ONE ever testified to seeing Wayne Williams harm, let alone KILL someone. There was conflicting testimony and evidence as to exactly where the body of Nathaniel Cater entered the river. Even more compelling, a friend of Cater's; Jimmy "Tightrope" Anthony said that he saw Cater ALIVE, even spoke to him, the day AFTER the bridge incident. As for why Police didn't arrest James Brooks; (for Clifford Jones' Murder) STUPIDITY! There was a fierce debate among detectives over James Brooks. At least one, a veteran homicide detective, Welcome Harris, wanted to arrest Brooks. But one of Harris' dumb bosses let it drag. Suddenly, Wayne Williams came onto the scene. It was, by that time, more convenient to view Williams as the main suspect. Once again, you don't have the facts of this case.
Message: You are a master at the non-denial denial. And that is because you can't answer the question. You say alot about what NO ONE saw, but you never answer the question: What was Wayne doing on the bridge at 2:30 in the morning? As for stopped, let's look at the facts. The recruit, Bob Campbell heard the splash. Put his flashlight on the river. Saw the big waves. Put his flashlight on the bridge. Nothing. Back to the river. More waves. Back to the bridge. Nothing. He repeats this action. The THIRD time he puts his flashlight on the bridge he testifies that carlights came on "and the car begins to move" If the car "begins to move" - then it must have been stopped prior to the movement. Right? Even the Ga. Supreme Court recognized that in their decision. You should read it. Oh, and the next cop at the end of the bridge, saw the same car, moving 2-5 miles an hour, right next to the bridge. So close, from his vantage point, he can only see one headlight. Not coming down the middle of the road. Not at a normal speed. But 2-5 miles an hour. So, Wayne is on the bridge right at the moment of a huge splash, in a station wagon, with the back seat folded down, his lights off, and his car "beginning to move" acording to a witness - then building up to a speed of no more than 3-5 miles an hour, right next to the bridge. Then, he lies about why he is there. The judge told the jury that lying is a sign of guilt, by the way. Is that enough facts for you? And lo and behold, a body right down stream two days later. That is a fact also. The victim, Nathaniel Cater, was seen by witnesses with William just before his murder. Oh, and Cater's body had six fibers consistent with fibers in Williams' bedspread, carpet, his home, bedroom blanket, and dog. Need any more facts? By the way, there WAS testimony that Wayne harmed someone. He choked his own father in a parking lot. I guess you missed that homework assingment. Check the transcript. And your logic amazes me. NO ONE saw Wayne kill anyone. Oh, then he must be innocent. Who saw Ted Bundy kill anyone? Who saw John Wayne Gacy kill anyone? How many examples do you want? How about Eric Rduolph. Anyone see him build a bomb? Plant a bomb? No. But a witness saw him walk away from the scene. Circumstantial. Just like Wayne on the bridge. They used fibers to convict bundy and Jeffrey McDonald. Was that sinister? Railroading? No, good police work. As for James Brooks. One homicide cop does not a case make. Prosecutors know what will and won't work in court. And Wayne Williams didn't suddenly come onto the scene. Didn't you check your facts. Jones was murdered NINE MONTHS before Wayne was a suspect. And you say SUDDENLY Wayne Williams is on the scene. So, in your scenario the police sat on the real killer for nine months, while 16 more young adults and children are killed so they can find someone more convenient? And again - to buy this theory you have to believe police overlooked a sex offender, worthless piece of S*** suspect (James Brooks)so they could pin the murders on a middle class kid from a well known Atlanta family of educators. And they let 16 more die while they waited. My God - do you really think that? This is the logic of the Free Wayne Williams movement. A movement that relies on people reading the stories or watching the docudramas don't know the real facts. We can agree to disagree - but one thing is sure. I know the facts and am sick and tired of the conspiracy nuts getting more play than the facts of the case. I hope someone reading this will begin to realize Wayne Williams was caught red handed in the act of dumping a body. Unfortunately, police didn't see it. It is circumstantial. But, as police built the case, everything added up - against Wayne Williams. If you don't believe me, talk to the jurors. I have. They have no doubts what so ever. And they know all the facts.
