Remembering Murph |

This is a fitting place and time to remember Tom Murphy. "Murph" everyone knew in the early days. He was one of the first people I met when I arrived in 1981. The switcher in the pit actually had a caricature of him under one of the unused buttons! He was one of the most popular people there, and a good friend. More than anybody else at the time, he was the CNN dream. He came in as a VJ, worked his way up to director, and was on his way to upper management when he was killed in 1988 in a car accident. I don't think there is a sign or picture of him in the place today, and that makes me sad. For years after his death, if I tried I could still hear him calling the shows in my ear. Rest in peace, Murph.
