In Reply To: While I believe the point was made early....at the point of eating the guy it was already overboard...it seemed to have been making fun of an old cartoon from back in the 70s. I can't remember the name of it, but SNL's name was kind of close. It was pretty violent but in that cartoony way, in that the "bad guy" springs back with a 'duhhh' look on his face after being twisted, slamed and poked. 70s cartoons were violent.
Message: It's a statement on torture, pure and simple. The genie represents U.S. Armed servicemen and women who torture prisoners. An explanation is revealed near the end of the cartoon, when the genie says something about wanting to be good enough to impress his father (superiors?) Go over it again in your mind and you'll get it. Oh, and about the cow: Some viewers are more disturbed by the torture of an animal than they are by the torture and degradation of another human being, esp. when that person is of a different ethnic background, and PARTICULARLY when they associate that person with terrorists. Anyone disagree with me?
