TV news really is a personal pride craft. There's very little in the way of "nice job" or "way to go" platitudes, especially from management (who all should be forced to read "Winning" by former GE head Jack Welch).
Awards are nice to get, no doubt. However, many people end up spending a fortune chasing them. Do your job well, make a few friends, and most of all, don't forget YOUR REAL priorities in life.
No one ever wished they worked more OT, or won more local TV awards, as a death bed regret...
