They are not great. They do not offer on air talent clothing allowances. However some stations are pretty good. WYFF is one of their better stations in the company even if they are in the a mid-size market. They are number one in the market (except for their noon show). But that comes at a price... they pay less than their competitors. |

They do pay well in some.
And yes, they LOVE to hire Hearsties. (It gives a cost advantage because they know what you make - but even with that knowledge they're fair) Mindy Basara is another WBAL'er hired from within (WTAE), so is the main anchor Rod Daniels (WISN).
They're constantly looking to hire good talent - even if green - and groom them at the smaller stations to fill slots in the top markets. (WGAL, KCCI and WMUR are other smaller hearst stations that have earned national recognition as tops in the US).
