do they hire from within a lot?
Even from the small market Hearst stations?
Are all hearst staions great?
Any you'd stay away from?

hire from within a lot. The last hire in Baltimore was Kate Amara from WMUR in New Hampshire, a Hearst station.
I think Marilyn Getas, who also was at WBAL, came from a Hearst station in California.
