In Reply To: WKMG is tanking. They are number three in the morning. The ratings have never gone anywhere. They are losing the noon for the second ratings period in a row. Prior to the the noon show never lost. I agree the people are nice, but the decisions about what happens in Orlando are made in Detroit. If you want some real insight read rogersimmons.com it's all about Orlando TV. I do think their product looks good, but for some reason they can't get the people to switch on channel 6. As far as the other stations WFTV leads the pack. They get about a 20 share at noon versus the next station's KMG's 10 share. They have always been a powerhouse. WESH is slipping. They have people leaving all the time, but their product isn't bad. WOFL just lost the ND. The shop seems to be turning around. Some people who work there seem happy. CFN13 is a 24 cable outlet. The Reporter are underpaid and over worked. Everyone is a one-man band. They are getting a new studio in the future which might help with the stations overall look. One plus when working for them you get free cable... The biggest problem with Orlando is that there are so many things to do, so News isn's a big concern. It's a great place to live and play, but when you can drive 45 minutes and get to the beach who wants to watch TV... GOOD LUCK!!
Message: WKMG is not tanking. The 5am is up 100% so far this May. 6am is up 69%. Yes, we are number 3 in the morning, but until this year, we weren't even able to crack a 1 rating, now we're doing nearly a three and less than a point and a half away from WESH. That's not tanking, it's real growth in a time period that's tough to crack with new anchors up against two firmly entrenched, and long-running anchor teams. Noon, although we are no longer #1, is up 4% from last May. 5pm and 5:30 are down less than 5%, and the 6pm is flat, and is finishing ahead of WESH. We are number one at 11 for the 7th consecutive book so far, and are up by several thousand households over last May. You obviously also DON'T work for Post-Newsweek, because the decisions for Orlando are not all made in Detroit. I know, I work for them, I'm there every day, and I deal with Detroit. Also, maybe WFTV got a 20 share against a WKMG 10 share one day at noon, but so far for May, the shares are only separated by a few points cumulatively, not 10 points. I'm not bashing your opinion, just trying to give some perspective with the facts about WKMG. And thanks for saying the product looks good, we're working very hard, and we're very proud.
