My photographers will not put a light on me in live shots! If you look at my shots, and compare them to other reporters...there is a HUGE difference...instead of a flattering medium shot ...all I get is a WIDE SHOT with shadows all over my face.
What should I do?
I am an attractive reporter that does a solid job everyday--- but I can't feel good about it, because my live shots LOOK LIKE SHIT.
Would you go to management??? Do they care??? |

Unless you are moving, there is NO EXCUSE for not lighting a talent. Even when my talent moves, I use a batt light, put another light in the other areas needing it.
If you cannot light properly, find out how to. We do run-n-gun news every night, but I always make the talent look the best that I can in live shots.
As the subject of the live shots, you should feel free to suggest things. Be nice, but if nothing improves, go to your management or chief photog (if applicable).
Lighting is not hard, it just takes some commitment on your photog's part.
