You mock limabeans for posting.
Your advice is that limabeans should find an agent who is "good" - which, according to you, means the agent has access to a secret list of all the "non-listed openings".
I guess then the next logical step is for limabeans to also trust that this "good" agent is sending 100% of that secret knowledge right back to limabeans. Hell, if you're signed up to pay someone 8%-10%, surely you can trust him to be straight with you! Right?
Wrong!
I don't care who your agent is - you keep your ear to the ground, and you dig. And those tired web addresses that hazenkid handed you are OK, sure... but they're websites that everyone else in the world checks every single day. And the larger the market, the more likely the job has already been filled and is just being posted to help the station meet EEOC requirements.
Limabeans, your question means that you're at least trying to help yourself. Your instincts to do your own homework -agent or no- are right on the money. Maybe you can't believe everything you hear. But by following the boards and the buzz, you can at least TRY to keep track of things like corporate reputations, stations with high-turnovers, places under new management, shake-ups, shake-downs, talent coming in, talent going out, rest, unrest, etc. It sure as hell isn't going to hurt you any.
Don't ever listen to anyone who tells you to just shut up and let someone else handle your career. That's insane advice.

Couldn't agree more. Guessing that haz IS an agent, looking for his/her cut.
