Who can deny this? They ran with this story b/c they want to hurt the Bush administration and hurt America's image. PEOPLE DIED! OK, can we think about this...people died because Newsweek said that US guards flushed the Koran down a toilet...whoops, never really happened. Too late now, sorry. |

Just curious...bias implies deliberately lying or intentionally and cynically distorting facts.
Is that what you think Newsweek did?
Or did they simply screw up, displaying gross editorial ineptitude and negligence by failing to corroborate the story with multiple sources?
(And the idea that the government is putting pressure on Newsweek's source to change his/her tune isn't holding water tonight...given Newsweek's complete and unconditional retraction and apology.)
Anyway...Ms. Thang says it's liberal bias--that Newsweek is intentionally bending the truth to advance an anti-Bush political agenda.
Others think the newsmag just messed up royally.
One's a conspiracy, the other's ineptitude.
Which is it?
