Enough already. Spare us these rehashed old conspiracy stories. None of them hold up to scrutiny. But 9 weeks of testimony did. A jury listened and spoke. Wayne Williams is So Guilty.
If there was truly a rush to judgement in Atlanta maybe they would have taken a bum, sexual offender like James Brooks and convicted him of the Clifford Jones murder and thrown in the rest of the murders to boot.
Why didn't they?
Because the great "eyewitness to the murder" was a retarded boy. He described the killer using yellow ropes and wearing a pink jacket. Nothing he said fit the physical evidence of the crime. In fact, there was no evidence of sexual assault at all - as they witness claimed.
So, the APD did the right thing. They ignored the kid's claims.
The witness was crazy. Every cop knew it.
Justice was served.
As for those Ford LTD fibers. Talk to the prosecutors who have proof that Williams family had access to a Ford car. They even learned about more cars that matched more fibers AFTER THE TRIAL. The case got stronger, says Joe Drolet - lead appeals attorney.
So, relax America.
No smoking gun here in Atlanta. No conspiracy.
Just facts like:
Wayne Williams caught on a bridge at 3:00 in the morning, his car lights out, his car not moving - just as a large object is throw into the river alerting a stake out team.
A body surfaces downstream 2 days later.
Williams lies about why he was there.
Just, 19 different fiber matches from William's car, carpet, bedspread, gloves, jacket, even his dog.
One unique, even rare trilobal fiber found on a number of victims matching William's carpet.
Witnesses who saw Williams with murder victims.
He denied knowing any of them.
Witnesses who said he hated black street kids.
Young boys who said he wanted sex with them.
Two victims stabbed. Two blood stains in William's car. The blood matched the victims.
One of his best friends saying she knew he was capable of killing and he admitted he'd give himself up if police had enough evidence.
And Williams on the witness stand, flashing his anger and defiance.
It goes on and on.
No wonder it took the jury less than half a day to convict.
A jury of black, white, male and female jurors.
The real shame in the reporting of this story is the facts aren't told to the public.
What a shame.

No "conspiracy stories" here, my friend. Only facts which the jury, an apparently you, never heard.
First, one of the three eyewitnesses to the rape and murder of Clifford Jones wasn't "retarded." Freddie Cosby was a "slow learner" according to his teachers. He was competent enough to provide police and the FBI with an IRREFUTABLE account of Clifford Jones' rape and murder in the rear room of a laundry by suspect James Brooks. Secondly, regarding that Ford LTD, Dr. Harold Deadman, the FBI's Chief Fiber Expert, admitted in a Court-TV documentary, that he WRONGFULLY linked fibers from the Ford to three victims who's murders were blamed on Wayne Williams. In fact, that documentary is re-airing tonight on Court-TV.
Hey Atkid Pro, do yourself a favor and stop drinking the City of Atlanta's Kool Aid.
