Since I posted, I've spoken to several friends who saw the show, and all said it was just a cut above par.
Some sort of lame sketch with Will pissing himself while singing? Glad I missed it.
If they can't get it together for Ferrell, who can they get it together for?
Lamentably, one of the only reasons I continue to tune in is hoping to see Will Forte's over the top Zel Miller impression.
But since Miller is out of the news, I'm guessing that one has pretty much run it's course.
I did read last week's impressions from the folks on this board, and they seem to be blaming the cast for the show's tailspin. I would respectfully disagree.
With the possible exception of Finesse Mitchell and Rob Riggles the cast seems solid.
At the risk of talking out both sides of my mouth (pun intended), I'd like to see less of the male cast members forced to tounge each other (they obviously hate it) in forced sketches. It's the writers that suck.
The show needs a weekly installment of "Gays In Space". The guys are obviously more comfortable in gold lame' hot pants than being forced to make out in front of ten million people.
It's not funny. Quite the contrary, the cast members obviously don't want to do it and the audience is more disgusted than amused.
The last sketch towards the end of the show I remember was worth staying up for was an Alec Baldwin episode over a year ago. It was during the Prince Charles is gay thing, and Baldwin was the prince's press secretary during a presser. He could only answer the questions indirectly due to royal edict.
Exampe: Press Question-"Would it be safe to say that were the prince a public servant, he'd be a manhole inspector"?
Baldwin Answer-"Regrettably, yes."
Press Question- "Were the prince a floral arrangement, would he be a setting of roses on a piano, or tulips on an organ"?
Baldwin Answer-"Sadly, the latter would seem to hold true"
