WSB-TV joined the media lawsuit to gain release of police and court records on the Clifford Jones Case. But, after it aired a dozen or so stories on the new, exculpatory evidence, resulting in parents of the victims demanding a reopening of all the cases, WSB-TV caved to political pressure and suspended it's coverage. The Atlanta Journal, also party to the lawsuit, amazingly, chose not to publish ANYTHING from these files on Jones' murder in which a suspect, other than Wayne Williams was named. |

Monica Kaufman, the doyenne of Atlanta television news, has repeatedly lobbied her management to squelch stories which cast doubt on the police invesigation of Wayne Williams, police and judicial motivation and Williams conviction.
In 1981, Kaufman accused ABC News of "trying to ruin the reputations of some of the victims." This was in response to an ABC News report on an FBI theory that some of the murder victims had sold sexual favors on the street.
In 1987, Kaufman lashed out at her own station for airing a series of reports on a murder, in which a suspect other than Wayne Williams was named, but was eventually blamed on Williams. Kaufman managed to help convince her bosses to suspend coverage on these stories.
Monica Kaufman is an obstructionist for the truth.
