In Reply To: for those of us who must negotiate our own contracts, what are some typical market "outs?" - for instance, if you're in a mid 60-70 market is your "out" a top 20? or lower? - when do they kick in? - are you restricted from leaving during a ratings period? - how much notice must you give your station? thanks for sharing the info!
Message: top 25 seems reasonable, but nowadays it can be a tough sell getting any type of out. the 'kick-in' probably depends on what shows you anchor. if you're the main anchor, probably longer than you'd like. it would be very unlikely that a) you'd be allowed to leave during a ratings' period or b) a station would hire you during that time. again, depends on what shows you anchor. good luck.
