Race isn't a factor here anyway you look at it. If anything an african american comedian is going to get more leeway than a white comedian.
Chris Rock is incredibly funny and his black and white humor is embraced by everyone. But lets face it.. if a white comedian were to slam african american people in front of an african american crowd.. I think he'd have everyone including Jesse Jackson up his ass.
That being said.. I think Dave Chapelle is an incredibly talented comedian who peaked way too fast. His creativity was coming out fast and furious and I'm guessing it was overwhelming for him to keep up that pace. He'll be back strong because he's a natural.
Finally.. SNL sucks because all of the writers really suck. They make their actors look pitiful. Memo to SNL writers.. if you're making a living writing the current skits on SNL.. you may want to call back Starbucks and ask for your old muffin warmer position back. You'll need the income. Last night you even made Will Ferrell unfunny. |

i got news--i don't think you really know anybody that works at chappelle show because chappelle's producing partner is acutally white.(pretty common knowledge)..plus dc's wife is even asian!!
i'm african american, and i agree that sometimes there's a difference in culutral humor. but to make a blanket statement like that is a little on the ignorant side..
