BUT, the shop is not as bad as some have claimed. There has been some clashes because of the change in management. I assume that those who started this thread were on the short end of those clashes.
That being said there should be a change of resources. To many resources are wasted during the abyss that exists from 9AM until 5PM. The 10 O'Clock newscast is the money-maker, all reporters should be live in it with the exception of those from the morning newscast who do an occasional package.
Dawn Stensland is the one and only star Fox has. She has name recognition and people like her. She should be out in front in everything they do. Dave Huddleston has not caught on yet, but Dawn likes him and that goes a long way. Rob is solid. But Don Tollefson's act is waning both in the newsroom and in the city. They need to bring in a young replacement they can groom for that chair.
As for the mornings, the "we want to be Good Day LA, but not as pretty" experimenmt is still in progress. If the numbers now stay flat, it would be time to retool. I like Jen Fredricks, but she is an acquired taste. Right now, she is the driving force of the show. If she goes you almost have to give up on the whole thing. Sue Serio is the name star of that show, she will survive any format change.
As for management, the jury is still out. It's unfair to blast them right now because there were so many holes to fill when Scott left. But reducing the length and number of meetings would be a big step forward. They are counter-productive.
Also, the technical problems have to stop. They have become embarrassing in the fourth market. There must be an accounting for the constant mistakes.

but the shop IS that bad.
From lazy reporters to even lazier deskies and grumpy photogs (though understandable considering they usually are the ones who shoot the entire 10p reporter packages) it's a total mess .
No one really wants to talk too bad about current management because they are so catty and backhanded
and don't take criticism well that there would likely be repercussions if they found out.
but to those who will admit it the place was more fun albeit a news disaster when Matthews was there and this new ND has had nearly a year to make at least a dent in things, but to no avail!
(seems more interested in adding more meetings and flow charts and chalkboards)
I agree that most reporters should be live in the 10p. Why they come in at 8 and 9am is beyond me, it's not like they are "working" all these exclusives, more like opening up the newspaper and listening to KYW to figure out what the stories of the day are.
The endless meetings are such a joke, everyone staring at each other trying to pull a story out their #$*
and impress the boss, who by the way it appears to many among other things hasn't learned a thing about the Delaware Valley, barely knows what county she lives in.
Phillynewswatch says the jury should still be out on management, i get that to some degree but how long can the excuses last?-until the building renovation is complete? It's just likely to get worse, and if technical problems are bad now, a new set and building should really make things fun!
