In Reply To: I was also confused a bit by the previous post but the bottom line to me, a so-called outsider, is that the anchor desks at 29 need a total overhaul. (for starters anyway) There is no chemistry between Stensland and Huddleston, they are like watching paint dry and if the teleprompter crashes, god for bid we have to be forced to watch Huddleston ad-lib and fumble his way through a few vo's. The morning show talent looks like a morgue, with the exception of Kerri-Lee. And what's with sticking Sharon Crowley on the morning show????- after all these years of her so-called "hard" news edge on the 10p, now we are supposed to believe she is this air-head fluffy reporter turned anchor just yukking it up with circus clowns and showing consumers the latest and greatest products to get stains out of their clothes???? I just don't get what the so-called management is thinking over there! As previous posters indicate there is NO obvious sense from the on air product as to what management is trying to accomplish over there. Certainly nothing for the better on air has changed since the newbie boss Holly Gaunt came to town, if anything the shows look even worse, lack energy and continuity and look at times like something out of a college news station.
Message: BUT, the shop is not as bad as some have claimed. There has been some clashes because of the change in management. I assume that those who started this thread were on the short end of those clashes. That being said there should be a change of resources. To many resources are wasted during the abyss that exists from 9AM until 5PM. The 10 O'Clock newscast is the money-maker, all reporters should be live in it with the exception of those from the morning newscast who do an occasional package. Dawn Stensland is the one and only star Fox has. She has name recognition and people like her. She should be out in front in everything they do. Dave Huddleston has not caught on yet, but Dawn likes him and that goes a long way. Rob is solid. But Don Tollefson's act is waning both in the newsroom and in the city. They need to bring in a young replacement they can groom for that chair. As for the mornings, the "we want to be Good Day LA, but not as pretty" experimenmt is still in progress. If the numbers now stay flat, it would be time to retool. I like Jen Fredricks, but she is an acquired taste. Right now, she is the driving force of the show. If she goes you almost have to give up on the whole thing. Sue Serio is the name star of that show, she will survive any format change. As for management, the jury is still out. It's unfair to blast them right now because there were so many holes to fill when Scott left. But reducing the length and number of meetings would be a big step forward. They are counter-productive. Also, the technical problems have to stop. They have become embarrassing in the fourth market. There must be an accounting for the constant mistakes.
