Affiliation switches have happend LOTS of times in numerous cities across the country...even some big markets.
NO NETWORK has ever switched back to an affilitate it left.
KNTV has a new building...new equipment (financed of course, by 30-Rock)...spent MILLIONS on advertising...upgrading their transmitter/signal. NBC is there to stay.
There stands a better chance of a local group buying out KRON (hello, KOB?) than NBC going back to "frisco."
PS-No, I don't work for KNTV. But I do have lunch occasionally with sales-types over there...and also with sales types over at KRON. They give me the scoop...and it all shows a long-term commitment to NBC staying in the South Bay. (also, keep your ears tuned to some local groups trying to buy KRON and take a stab at reviving the News Dept.) |

KRON's 9pm news won the local Emmy as best evening newscast Saturday night. ND Chris Lee did his best to sound positive while admitting "challenges." Too bad the win was undercut by the bittersweet acceptance speeches of other winners who had already left the station and those who, while still there, were openly shopping around for new jobs.
The emotional pain among the KRON folks is really sad to see. It seems the best they can hope for it that it ends quickly.
