That 383-thousand dollar house 2.5 years ago is now definitely over 5-hundred, thousand. I agree when you got in, it made sense. Getting into the LA area, NYC, DC, San Fran 2.5 years ago was really the last opportunity for most normal people (who aren't inheritance babies). This is the most important point -- which was missing from your post. |

However Santa Clarita still has town homes, condos and new attached homes (duplex) for around 350.000. Those are today??s new starter homes in So Cal. Good solid construction. We almost bought attached home in Steven Ranch here in SCV. However we needed 4 bedrooms, not 3.
Again, being from Texas we were shocked at what starter homes were going for 2 1/2 years ago. After visiting a few new home tracks for fun, we asked what minimum income was necessary to qualify. We were amazed to hear $75,000 is all we needed, combined income, to qualify on a 383,000! We qualified as freelancers on stated income. 100% financing at 5.25%!
Take my advice and get started now. Go get pre qualified if nothing else. It costs nothing to look.
