In Reply To: I've heard everything from 6% to 10%. Is there an industry standard? I'd appreciate an advice before I sign on the dotted line. Thanks, EYE
Message: Have you tried to find a job on your own? It may save you a bundle. The way I see it, agents can be useful in the big leagues. But if it's, say, a medium market in which you're interested, I'd try getting the job myself. Then, you can hire an experienced attorney to help you with the contract, and perhaps help you negotiate. Maybe you can hire an agent for a one time fee to negotiate, if you need that service. But I'd make every effort to avoid paying even 5 percent of my salary for the length of a contract.
