I've seen some decent people let go simply because of their attitude.
Some ND's, though few, won't put up with anchors who whine all the time.
In the end, these people are let go.
Usually they are 2nd string anchors.
Main ones, they can pretty much file their nails on set between breaks looking like a deer in headlights when the prompter goes out.
Nothing can be done with these people.
Sad, but true |

Some people work in some markets and some don't. What works in one talent-wise will be a big miss in another.
Big companies aren't really interested in talent. They are interested in the bottom line, so if a talent become too expensive, bye bye.
It used to be easy to define what a good employee was. Not anymore. Because its irrelevant.
I know very few news directors anymore who are really news directors. Today, they are corporate toadies who want to move up some corporate ladder. They will cave to any direction as long as they curry favor with the powers that be. They can't manage worth a whit and the product is a sad example of this.
