That gives the agent incentive to find you a higher paying job, and I think the higher rates are tougher to deal with when you're making less. Your prospective agent may balk at that notion, but I think 10% is only reasonable in cases where they find you a job that pays more than 100K. Also, consider walking if he/she doesn't agree to those terms- there are a lot of agents to choose from, and you may not even need one to move ahead.
Message: No agent worth his salt will take less than 5%. The industry norm is 5 or 6% for broadcast news. No one pays 10% unless they're being taken for a ride. 10% is the agent rate for non-news jobs like actors or writers. Sundog doesn't know what he's talking about.
