In Reply To: I no longer hold Bush accountable for the situation this country is in now. I hold you accountable, the news media, that has become lax in its duties to us, the American people. Why do you not care anymore about the simplest concept of your job: The truth? It seems you threw your morals, and your ethical resposibilities in the trash as soon as you walked out of that door at journalism school. The American news media, is the biggest supporter of the injustices that occur in this country these days. Why don't you accurately, and fairly report the facts anymore? Even local news station seem to subscribe to the tabloid style of reporting now. The ??it's a rumor, let's report it and make it fact through constantly repeating it?? style of journalism. Leave that to the National Enquirer and shows like A Current Affair. DO YOUR JOB! Get the facts, and report them correctly, without your slant on them. Yes, even if you think you're being fair and balanced, even the little inflections in your voice that you use, will affect how the public percieves the truth. Stop doing it. You are destroying America, and everything that ??Freedom of the press?? means. It isn't only reporters at fault here, hell, it's probably only about 25 percent their fault. It's the producers, the news directors, even the general managers that hold a lot of blame in this case. Their hunger for ratings and money, has made the news industry into a farce of what it is supposed to be. Reporters are responsible though, for being too WEAK to stand up to these people and defend the truth. As a former news photographer, perhaps I don't know all the politics that go on behind closed doors with you people, but I do know what I see come across as the final product. A typical workday that I was witness to in my previous job was: Morning meeting, you're assigned your story and bitch about it for half an hour because it's not the story you wanted to do. Then, going out and doing your interviews, the part of the day, when you're supposed to be doing your fact gathering, yet, you don't fact gather. You do the bare minimum, so that you can get a longer lunch, or so you can go home early. Back to the studio to scan the first couple of minutes of an interview to pick some soundbytes, which, nine times out of ten, are not the best ones. Finishing off by handing it all off to your editor and leaving the TRUTH at his or her mercy. This is not the way to give the public the truth. You got into this job, you knew the hours would be long, stop making us suffer because of your lack of work ethic. GET THE FACTS. TELL US THE TRUTH! If there is a part of your mind that thinks there is more to the story than you are being told, then for god's sake pursue it. To many reporters do just enough to get something in the evenings show, and as a result, the real truth is not reported. Just halve truths, and conjecture. I doubt I'm the only one that's noticed this, and honestly, I dont' expect any of you to listen. You people think you're beyond fallacy, when in fact, you're not. Please, please remember though, that what you put on the air, is in most cases what people are going to believe, and if you know, that you could have done a better job then what you are ??spoon feeding?? us as they say, then we are not getting the real truth. In the end, it means you're doing us more harm than good. Stop doing more bad than good.
Message: Listen, if you're going to post on a media site at least learn how to communicate. Your first sentence should be English. Period. Secondly, in the first graf we like 'who, what, when, how and where.' Thirdly, we, and the rest of America, like paragraph breaks. Go back to your day job at www.delayisnotgay.com
