They way I've been told, even though we're in CA (which has tough labor laws), they can do this because we're under contract. Sucks.

Your schedule works if you assume that the assignment editor can start the same time that the show starts. We start at 5:30 am and the assignment editor for that show comes in at least 2 hours prior.
If you've got the weekends covered (albeit not as thoroughly as you'd probably like) with part timers, you should move the 4th person m-f 3-noon. Otherwise your 5 or 6am person is going to be behind the 8 ball outta the gate.
