looking at your analogy,
would I allow an untrained person to take the place of a highly skilled, trained brain surgeon, with 7 years of study, 2 years of residence and board certification?
NO!
Would I allow an untrained person to take the place of a photographer, who may or may not have any college education, requires no formal industry training, and has no certification by any sanctioning body at all?
Why yes, I think I might.
Still think its a fair analogy?

dude dudettte... now i have no lofty opinion of myself or my abilities but i am a journeyman... to say a monkey can be a camera op...harsh...
would be good as an executive prod as you intelligently caught right away it wasn't a fair comparison of relationship...brain surgeon/photog... it was funny... not mean spirited... sure anyone can hold a camera and get usable pictures to make the black go away, most of us can write a story, some of us can edit a story... some of us can do itt all... and most of the some of us are already camera ops... not brain surgeons... but they gotta be smart too...
