I've worked with Rick.
THE GOOD:
He has a small, select clientele. He ALWAYS returns phone calls (and very quickly at that). His weekly newsletter for news managers is now very popular and it's gotten his name out to the bigger markets. He's honest and straightforward. He pushes clients toward SOLID shops (he'd rather you take a lower salary at a good station than bigger money at a LOUSY shop -- you're happier in the long run). Almost everyone who knows him respects him. He's just a nice guy... but perhaps too nice.
THE BAD: He's still no Bienstock or Lindner. He doesn't have the connections those guys have in the BIG markets and at the networks. A few of his clients have moved up, but most have "settled" in middle markets and now he just sits back, renews their contracts, and collects the money. Because of that, I think in recent years Rick has lost his "edge" a bit. He needs to be a bit more aggressive. Sometimes he doesn't follow-up enough on tape/job status, etc. But that's the same with most agents.
Hope this helps!
