In Reply To: i've worked with a few like you, too, producers and EP's who stack a show, then beg, cajole even threaten reporters to make the story match the rundown. that is the mark of a true amateur. but, we'll see you in news director land soon, i'm sure.
Message: ...communicating with your producers and desk throughout the day -- letting them know what is and isn't going on? I agree that sometimes you're sent on a story and you get there and that isn't the story. That's hard for desk folks who've never been in the field to understand sometimes. But it's just as frustrating when a reporter goes out with the idea given them by the desk, and won't look for any other angle when the first angle isn't there. There is a story, you just have to open your eyes to it. And honest communication with the desk/producers can help everyone remain on the same page. Ultimately, if you can fill the time with a decent story, why should it matter if the angle they envisioned isn't there?
