BCS is a tough place to live if you're not in college. There's nothing to do down there other than bars and A&M football games.
News-wise, KBTX is really your option. It's the only full-time news op in Bryan and the only station with any resources or viewers. ND is Mike Barger. He's a good guy who'd be grateful for anyone with experience. I think they have a reporter opening advertised right now too. But be prepared. The pay is very low (upper teens) and you're working with a very young green staff. Mostly recent A&M grads. |

If you're open to any type of Broadcasting..
City of College Station has a A/V-Cable department now, I believe, and a former KBTXer Charlie Haldeman heads it up. Call him and see if there is any opportunities. Also, the City of Bryan may have same or at least want to do their own Cable TV. These are viable options in BCS that doesn't have much to offer via traditional Broadcast TV. I lived and worked at KBTX for nearly 3 years, my recommendation is to look beyond KRHD/KBTX. With your skills...you'll be happier and less stressed.
The region is growing and you're not far from anything in the State. We enjoyed living in CS.
