In Reply To: facility in South Africa so says NY Post...it's sad. This guy is so creative...it's like the JOhn Belushi thing these comedians are so edgy and brilliant success gets the best of them. People are saying he had hard time handling success of show..if this is true he should have long conversation with Keenan Ivory Wayans about loosing "creative" control of a show. Wayans' "In Living Color" (one of the BEST shows of its time)was refreshing until FOX realized they had a hit on their hands, got involved and tamed it.
Message: According to several magazine articles after the show left the air, the Wayans brothers got caught up in their own success, and let the show slide. Former writers and producers described creative meetings, where Keenan and Damon did nothing but practice their autographs, refusing to contribute ideas for sketches or other comedy bits. That's one reason Jim Carrey got a chance to shine. Some of the writers began to see the Wayans as indifferent and undependable, sothey began writing stuff for Carrey, and (of course) he contributed a great deal of material on his own. Without Carrey and David Alan Grier, the show would have imploded long before Fox finally pulled the plug. I think the situation with Fox taught Keenan and Damon a valuable lesson. Both have had tremendous success over the past decade, and they've managed to retain creative and financial control over their projects. And, it looks like Damon's got most of the family on the payroll for his sitcom, "My Wife and Kids."
