Less than at a commercial station in the same market. Also, public stations will expect you to make a contribution during their fund drives.
On the plus side, they often have excellent equipment and longer deadlines. |

PBS stations don't have excellent equipment (THAT costs money, which they don't have) and they won't ask you to contribute during fund drives. They will expect you to work for less pay than commercial stations in the same market. It used to be said that the health benefits were excellent, so it made up for the less competitive salary...this isn't true anymore - the benefits are hardly top-notch. Staffing is not excessive either - never enough people to cover
production projects, BUT I will say the people you work with will be dedicated and passionate about what they do.
Co-workers are always the best part of working at a PBS station.
