You say that your wife is the real bread winner right now and you're just kind of thinking about getting back into the business.
I would say you have a golden opportunity in College Station.
You could go work at either KBTX or KRHD without the worry of having to support a family on what you make. You can offer yourself up to help improve the product at either station. KRHD's obviously needs a lot of work and is dependent on what happens when it gets processed through KXXV in Waco.
KBTX has been through a lot of turmoil in the past few years, but still dominates the ratings in Brazos County.
I also noticed recently that KCEN has started to separately market their repeater in the area - KMAY-LP Channel 23. Perhaps they're looking to add a reporter there?
Just a thought. |

I will throw my 2 cents in as well...KRHD is in serious need of help (avoid the obvious jokes here, folks...I'm trying to offer constructive advice). The biggest problem (one of them, anyway) is that KRHD is completely unsupervised, and since it is a satellite operation, suffers from lack of leadership. A good, solid vet willing to get his hands dirty could do wonders there. Yes, it is "processed" thru Waco, but understand what a dificult task that they're being asked to do; a piecemeal newscast comprised of live and taped elements 90 miles apart, all running thru 1 person at a master control switcher. It isn't an easy task, folks. I've done it, and it's a pain. But, it's the only option for that particular place until more money is invested for a full operation in Bryan/CS.
