having been in the business longer than my last morning producer had been alive, it is wonderful to watch the joy and the awe inspired by the heady times of getting into the business... it's great to be young and inspired... you can change the world... you can.... but you gotta own the ball and the field you play on... if you don't, get out of the biz or be satisfied to shovel drek like the rest of us...i've been a photog for over 20 years in this market... even worked at the ole double duece for awhile... at the time , kron had the most talented photographic staff in the city... now all gone 'cept for maybe ken schwartz, larson and fix... but the biz is changing and if you ask the dinosaurs, they'll tell you change or die... channels 2,5,7,and even pbs have radicaly altered their engineering ops in the last 10 years... there are no two person vans at any of those stations... 2 was the last to go and name all photogs and van ops one person vans... kids, just 'cause we're old and have been in the biz for ever, don't lump us all together as malingering malcontents protected by a union and i won't think of all young folks as idealogic in experienced ego-manical self involved narcisistic buffoons, okay... some of us old farts love to work, specially with competent, young reporters with their priorities correct... your photogs and editors can kill you... lets all get along... management on the other hand will get along with you as long as they need you...it was an even beter business and done better in days past, but still at times, it is the most fun you can have with your cloths on...be proud of your craft, do the best you can in spite of the madness, because in television, your product is truely yours... the fruits of your efforts... be proud of your work even if the environment does not deserve it...and don't put anyones eye out
