So I go back to the first piece of advice I got as an intern 13 years ago..."Get now while you can" I laughed at them, but I wish I listened. I love the job, but it's robbed me of any personal life, family life...etc. I feel like I live for the job now and not working to live. If I knew how to get out I would. |

...part of the problem is you've LET the job run you.
I was lucky enough in college to get connected to the school's career service center. While it never helped me get a job, it did have me fill out paper-work on what I wanted out of life. Notice, life, NOT job/career. I pegged family and personal life as something high on my list. I've also turned down the chance to move to "prime anchor" three times. Family and outside life is TOO important to me.
And if you really want out -- leave. If you don't have a spouse/kids to support, then there's really nothing holding you back but you. You may just find once you leave, there are more opportunities open than you thought.
Good luck -- in whatever you choose to do.
