I think management made it pretty clear... if this isn't what you signed up for, then there's no dishonor in leaving...
Of course it's always easier to bellyache on Vault...
Personally, I think it's a pretty exciting time at KRON. There's the real chance to do television differently. Again as one of the managers put it yesterday, it depends on how you define "quality". If you mean doing "clean", perfect television, then this won't be it. If you mean the opportunity to deploy 30 crews across the bay area, if you mean the chance to showcase real people, real communities, real stories other than the grind of the same five stories, if you mean recognizing that your career path will be different than that of people in this industry 30 years ago and you had better damn well adapt, I think this has a chance to be quality television.
Either way, it will be fun to try something new, won't it?

1. I am NOT Mark Antonitis, Craig Marrs or Chris Lee.
2. Most of the criticism on this thread involves a variation of "KRON was once a great station until Young effed it up" to which I say "Yeah, maybe, but so what?" General Motors used to be the strongest American company, AT&T used to be the surest investment in the world. Things change in American business. We can all bitch about the "good ole days" or we can make the best of what we have now. I choose the latter.
3. Much of the criticism of my post involves variations on "KRON's motivation is to make the place ready for sale and you're stupid to think they really care about finding a new and better way to communicate the news" to which I say "I don't care about their motivation, I just want the chance to do a different type of television."
Seriously, if you're not spending all of your time and energy wishing it was 10 years ago and this was the KRON of old, the KRON of today is one of the most exciting places to be working today... especially if you want to try new truly out of the box thinking. There's literally nothing we can't try now at KRON... nothing that is except go back to the excesses of television of yesteryear.
Let's go change the world of television and screw anyone who is afraid of change... and screw management if their true motivations are different. I plan to take advantage of this opportunity no matter how much some people just want to complain.
