If you are truly ambitious, as you said, then you needed to seek out the information before you did an internship at a large market station. The university types, for the most part, seem clueless about this. Smaller market stations need all the help they can get, and those are the best places to learn, whether you intern there or find a first job there doing whatever you can to get your foot in the door.
Sometimes there are smaller markets with easy driving distance of top tens, and that's where you need to look for an opportunity if you can't afford to move out of home. |

I actually knew that the larger markets tend to limit you but during the interview process I was led to believe that I would be able to maneuver around those limitations
At the time I started interning working the 4 am shift,working full-time and going to school part-time so a larger market close to home seemed like an attractive viable option at the time. But no excuses and appreciate you taking the time respond as I do all the other posts.
