...often mentioned here is cable. See if your local cable (or even PBS) station does any sort of news. Even if they don't, they may have someone who does some shooting. Maybe you could hook up with them to shoot some stories in their off time.
And even if the station where you interned is not an option, what about another station in the market? There has to be more than one in a top 10 and possibly one that's more supportive. But again, you may run into the problems of unions (where you can't touch squat or do anything)
And what about your school -- no campus station?
Finally -- do you have writing samples you could show a ND? If you look for a gig off-air, if you can show some potential as a writer, that'll help. |

I used their service. They shot stories for me, edited them and produced the tape. It cost me a few bucks, but I now have a big market tape with a lot of different looks. It was worth it.
