In Reply To: Mike Wallace is 87. That is pretty old in human years, dog years, you name it. But, for my money, Wallace is what I would like to be: old enough to say whatever the hell he wants to say and lucid enough to know just what he said. He may not be at the top of his game, but his game is different than most other people's. I'll also say this about him. At 87, he's twice the reporter and the talent as his son, who I just never warmed up to. Andy Rooney? Well, if he was twenty or thirty years younger, I wouldn't care about him. He has never been interesting to me. If I was going to make one change at 60 Minutes, I'd get rid of Morley Safer. He is simply a crashing bore who has gotten away with wearing gingham patterned shirts with the most hideous ties forever. If I could give one gift to the world, it would be that no one has to meet Morley Safer one on one. He is truly the worst television/journalism icon I have ever met. If I could give one piece of advice to him, it would be this: EAT RAW PORK AND SMOKE CAMELS, MORLEY!
Message: which, combined, rival the pyramids in egypt, the program still seems to hang around the top ten every year..every book..why do you suppose that is?????
