i hate my job. i graduated from college a year ago and started working about two months after graduation, and I hate it. i hate it. i hate it. i hate it. i know i was lucky to get something so quick, but i hate it now. everyday i think about quitting. my paycheck is the only thing that keeps me coming back day after day. that and i don't feel like looking for something else.
the one good thing i can say about my whole experience is that it was definitely worthwhile. i majored in broadcast journalism and if i had never gotten a job in tv, i would have spent my entire life wondering what if. but now i know and the thrill is gone. i'm about thisclose to working at the mall. i hope the gap is hiring... |

wide... sadly yours is a lament all too often heard among the young, bright, competent talent coming into television who wanna do news the old fashioned way.. news is news... it doesn't need dutchs and whipping cameras... it doesn't need story count like we needed body count in 'nam.... inflated...wouldn't it be novel to just do news again that mattered.... and okay, throw in a couple of car chases so i can keep flying and a wayne friedman piece three times a week... i have watched two very talented young women reporters walk away from jobs in the 5th market or above in the last 5 years... all because they couldn't believe the fodder we fed our mill... word
